Today'Nuts Headlines
š» HP and Dell Crash Amid PC Market Woes
AI servers shine, but weak PC demand dims industry outlook.
The global PC market isnāt catching a break, and neither are two of its biggest players. HP and Dell both reported earnings that painted a mixed picture, leaving investors jittery. HP shares tumbled 8.57% after missing revenue expectations for Q3, while Dell's stock dropped over 12% as weak Q4 guidance overshadowed its infrastructure gains.
AI-focused products are the bright spot for both companies, with Dellās AI server sales surging 58% YoY. Still, sluggish PC sales and global economic uncertainty are keeping the sector in limbo. HPās stock, up 30% earlier this year, is now down to $35.90. Analysts are watching whether AI adoption will spark a turnaroundāor remain a slow burn.
š”ļø Cybersecurity Spotlight
CrowdStrike: Strong Q3, Weak Q4 Guidance
CrowdStrike ($CRWD) surpassed Q3 revenue and EPS expectations with $1.01 billion and $0.93, respectively. Yet, shares dropped 6.2% in premarket trading after Q4 guidance disappointed Wall Street.
The cybersecurity firm also hit a major milestone, becoming the fastest in its sector to surpass $4 billion in annual recurring revenue. However, lingering issues from a July software update that caused global disruptionsāand a subsequent lawsuit from Delta Air Linesāare keeping some investors cautious.
Despite these challenges, CrowdStrikeās market leadership and resilience position it for long-term success.
š¾ Semiconductor Surge
Intelās $7.9B Lifeline: CHIPS Act in Action
Intel ($INTC) secured the largest-ever subsidy under the CHIPS Actāa $7.9 billion grant to bolster U.S. chip manufacturing. The deal promises to create 30,000 jobs across four states and underscores Americaās push to reduce dependence on overseas semiconductor production.
The funding comes with strings attached, including a ban on stock buybacks for five years. With this grant, Intel has now committed $90 billion to U.S. investments by 2030. However, political pressure looms as the Biden administration accelerates CHIPS funding ahead of President-elect Trumpās term, during which such initiatives could face significant rollbacks.
