🚀Startups Nuts

OpenAI, known for its cutting-edge conversational AI ChatGPT, is witnessing an unparalleled upsurge in revenue. As CEO Sam Altman announced, OpenAI is now generating an astonishing $1.3 billion annually, which translates to over $100 million monthly, marking a 30% leap since the summer. Such financial momentum came after introducing the paid variant of ChatGPT earlier this year and the subsequent launch of ChatGPT Enterprise in August, targeting the business sector. In contrast, OpenAI's revenue for 2022 stood at a mere $28 million. This rapid growth highlights the company's prominent role in the escalating demand for generative AI.

Blue Origin’s Blue Ring is a space platform that will be able to provide delivery and logistics support for other space projects. It will be able to host, transport, and refuel other spacecraft, relay data, and offer in-space cloud computing capabilities. The platform will be able to travel with payloads of over 6,600 pounds. Blue Origin aims to launch the spacecraft in 2025.

Netflix is launching a limited beta test of its games streaming service in the US. The feature will allow users to play games streamed from the cloud on a TV or PC. Users will need to download a special controller app to play games on the TV - games will work with a mouse and keyboard when accessed through a browser. Netflix is planning to release games based on its own franchises, like Squid Game, and it is also in discussions about licensing a game from the Grand Theft Auto series.

Drugstore chain Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New Jersey. It also appointed Jeffrey Stein as its new CEO to steer the company through its restructuring plan. The company has been grappling with slowing sales, mounting debt and lawsuits alleging it contributed to the nation’s opioid epidemic. Rite Aid faces steep competition from its rivals, which have leaned into health-care models to offset losses from their retail businesses.

📱Tech Nuts

YouTube appears to be constantly changing its ad-blocking detection scripts. The ad-blocking community has been working on ways to defeat YouTube's anti-adblock feature, which alerts users with pop-ups and interrupts the viewing experience. Many people use ad blocking to restrict exposure to trackers, spyware, and other privacy-intruding scripts. This article shares several ways for users to bypass YouTube's anti-ad blocking efforts.

There's no universal import system and there are too many layers of minification, uglification, and transpilation, wildly different environments, an overemphasis on file structure, too many tools, and too many steps between code and deployment.

A new wireless device can provide minimally invasive neurostimulation that patients can operate in their own homes. The device is implanted inside the skull but above the dura mater, a protective membrane that surrounds the brain. It takes less than 30 minutes to implant, after which patients can do at-home treatments using a headset that transmits power and instructions to the implant. The device has yet to be tested in an FDA-approved clinical trial.

🔥 Hot Book of the Day

Based on Mark Williams's research into the therapeutic powers of mindfulness, and an extension of Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Deeper Mindfulness continues the story told by Mark Williams and Danny Penman's runaway success, Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World.

Where the author's previous book crafted the foundations necessary to live a happier and more fulfilling life, and has proven transformative for many people, many readers have asked whether there was anything more they could do to enhance their practice and resolve their remaining issues.

Deeper Mindfulness answers that question with a resounding, yes. It is possible to deepen the effect of mindfulness practice by focusing on what the authors describe as vedana, or "feeling tone," which targets certain core processes in the meditating mind.

Over eight weeks, readers will learn to apply this practice to such unpleasant emotions and mood disorders as anxiety, depression, stress, and general unhappiness; when these unpleasant emotions evaporate, readers will be left with a calm space inside from which they can rebuild their lives.

“A practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world.”
